41th Portuguese Box-Office Analysis
But with my new collaboration in a Brasilien site, time is running out very quickly and something as got to suffer. Last week it was the box-office analysis. I hope to put it on track next week.
So how about the last week of box-office. Any magic?
The answer is, not really. A semi-disapointment for a suposed big movie. And two other very small opennings but those of films which were to expect.
No point on making suspense. "The Da Vinci Code" is still number one. But if you wanna know more continue reading.
This week we had a 22% drop in number of spectators on the top ten movies to 282883 in total. An expected drop since, last week, The Code openned big time. Without further ado let´s move on to the analysis.
We are considering the week between 25 and 31 of May

The Champion:
Even if the X-Men didn´t beat "The Da Vinci Code" then we have to assume that it will stay at the top spot for some time. With a 36% drop, a very good perfomance for a film that opens this big, and 164409 spectators, we have to expect a very good run for the Ron Howard directed movie. Without a doubt, will be the biggest film of the year. And we are only on the middle of 2006. Very impressive. Way beyond my expectations.
The New Players:
"X-Men:The Last Stand" opened very low and is, until now the lowest opening big blockbuster of this summer with only 58868 spectators in 63 theathers. It got hurt by "The Da Vinci Code" which made it open uch smaller than expected. It´s predictable that next week will have a small drop, to compensate for it´s small opening. But still, it´s a disapointment.
The others didn´t made the top ten films like "The World´s Fastest Indian" which opened in number 16 with 1277 spectators. Considering the subject (Bart Munro -unknown in here) and the director also unknown, it was predicted that is on of those that will go under the radar, despite the presence of Anthony Hopkins in a very unusual part for him. And the film is not that great so it will be difficult to get more than 3000 people seeing it.
And in number 19 is "Le Temp qui Reste", the latest from director Francois Ozon. And according to the portuguese critics one of the best of the year. In just 1 theather it almost made 1000 spectators. A Not very bad start.
The Other Players:
Just a note to a outstanding perfomance of the week to "Half-Light", that in a very slow and down week happened to go up by 3% to 4432 spectators. A very impressive and not expected prize. But a one well deserved according to this site. By the way, the film still sucks despite the award.
See ya next week.
Good Night and Good Films.
Ps: "The next week we will have" was not made since i already know the results from the next week and it would be stupid to try to pretend not knowing them. Bye
