51st Portuguese Box-Office Analysis

And the first 50 are over let´s continue with the next ones.
This week is number 51 and there aren´t any big news again.
Except there is a 11% increase in number of espectators to 373557 and this means very good news for portuguese going people. More people means more invstment, more choices and ultimately better movies.
So i´m excited with this trend in increasing of cinema movie people.

In number one no news. The same one maintains the crown for the third straight week.
But this time with much more company and a very big opener that almost took it´s crown.
Three new films on the top ten and nothing more big news except for some increases for some old movies.

This concerns the week between 3 to 9 of August.

The Champion:

.

And for the third straight week, it´s Pirates winning again. And in the third week almost 100000 spectators. That´s something to be proud about. I think "Pirates of the Caribean:Dead man´s Chest" is oficially the second most money making movie of all time behind Titanic so it´s pretty amazing how well it is doing. I wouldn´t have bet this much on it but it´s doing pretty fine.

The New Players:

At number 2 we find the first big opener not to get to number one with 86486 spectators. And that is "Miami Vice", not one of Mann´s finest but still a very good film indeed. It´s revamp of 80´s called the old ones and the change to the present Miami scene did the rest. And who can claim they film better the night than Michael Mann. The answer is nobody. If you can see it, then i recommend it.

In number 4 is the original story from the, how we say it in Portuguese, do Capuchinho Vermelho. And there is are some crazy scenes in this one. Could this really be the true and the story the told us when we were small is all lies? At least 35789 spectators thought so and went see it. And how about you? Want to be sure. Check it out now. Ohhh, the film is called "Hoodwinked".

Finally, the last opener to breach the top 20 is "Romance and Cigarrettes" at number 12 with 2832 spectators in 8 theathers. It´s a musical and that in Portugal 99,9% of the time means failure. We hate it. Stop sending. Stop. Yes, really.
